AFTES - Tunnel Stonehenge

The Stonehenge tunnel (UK) called into question by archaeological discoveries?

Bronze Age tombs were discovered during archaeological work preliminary to the realization of the very controversial Stonehenge tunnel project, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This project (A303) aims to replace the road that currently runs alongside the site. The relics discovered correspond to what the archaeologists expected.

Only one piece seems to intrigue the “Wessex Archeology”, the organization supervising the excavations, it is a cylindrical piece in schist found in the tomb of a young woman, perhaps a functional object serving to contain an organic product.

For the moment, there is no indication that the project could be abandoned.
