Hubert du Mesnil, President of the Lyon-Turin Euralpin Tunnel Company, interviewed by the Senate Committee on Regional Planning.

Hubert du Mesnil was interviewed by the Senate Committee on Sustainable Development and Regional Planning on the progress of the Lyon-Turin project.

After recalling the objectives of the construction of this mega-project of rail tunnels, Mr. de Mesnil said that the schedule set by Europe for 2030 was tight but still applied despite the statements of the Italian Minister. The latter considers that it would be more reasonable to plan for a start-up in 2032.

The project is estimated to cost 8.3 billion euros, and Mr. du Mesnil does not question this amount for the moment. 4 billion euros have already been committed for the tunnel construction contracts.

There remains the question of the access roads which seem to be blocked on the French side while waiting for delicate decisions to be taken!
