Education Committee
The role of the Education Committee is to promote initial and ongoing training in tunnelling and underground space-related professions, and to develop training and research relationships with the academic world.
Committee missions:
- Monitor and support underground works-related specialist courses for which AFTES is a direct partner:

Continuing education
Continuing education courses included in the Master’s Degree in Tunnels and Underground Works
- Review applications for “AFTES accreditation” label for specialist undergraduate and postgraduate courses relating to underground works, resulting in an opinion from the Executive Council.
- Promote the underground works industry to the student audience, and raise awareness about the profession's needs and varied career opportunities.
- Drawing on the work of the Technical Committee, promote a forum for dialogue between AFTES members and the academic and research communities.
Composition of the Committee
The Education Committee includes representatives from the academic world and the main stakeholders in the field of underground works and development (i.e. contracting authorities, project managers, engineering firms, contractors, etc.).
