Articles of Association
AFTES adopted its Articles of Association at an extraordinary general meeting in December 2017.
1. Name and purpose
The association, founded in 1972, is governed by the Act of 1 July 1901, the Decree of 16 August 1901 and by French law.
Since 2005, its name is “Association Française des Tunnels et de l’Espace Souterrain”, abbreviated as “AFTES”.
The Articles of Association are supplemented and clarified by Internal Regulations.
The purpose of the Association is to facilitate greater use of underground space, support progress in tunnel design, construction and management methods, and assist the development of plant and equipment for use in construction, operation and maintenance of underground structures and spaces. The Association fosters relationships and promotes cooperation between public or private-sector contracting authorities and all industry players with activities relating to construction, maintenance and operation of all kinds of underground structures and spaces.
