AFTES TBM Lot GC01 Lyon

GC01 batch of the Lyon metro explained

28 March 2022 Off By Marie-Christine MICHEL

Presentation of the GC01 batch of the Lyon metro on March 8r

During the 08/03/2022 session of the “Tuesdays of the AFTES” in Lyon, the regional delegation had the pleasure to welcome Alain RICHELY (IMPLENIA’s Regional Operations Director for France) and Arnaud HOCHART (IMPLENIA’s Geologist), in order to present the progress of the construction site of the GC01 batch of the Lyon metro.

It must be said that the program, very complete, allowed to put forward the particular context of the project with a very precise description of the geology and the sensitivity of the environment.

The major problem of the site is obviously the raw pebbles, which are dreaded soil elements in the Lyon region. Thus, the adaptation of the technique met the digging objectives. In addition, drilling muds were a priority work area.

In the same spirit, the TBM had a hybrid technology that combined the possibilities of conventional containment methods (earth or mud pressure) to adapt to the different terrains crossed.

– WG27 – Mechanical ventilation of underground structures during construction and rehabilitation.

– WP9 – Recommendation on the protection of extradosed waterproofing and drainage of underground structures.

A great success for the first Tuesday of the AFTES in Lyon!

For this first edition of the AFTES Tuesdays in Lyon, many listeners (about 70 people) were present. A great success for this delocalized event… Next meeting in Lyon : 07/06 and 22/11/2022.
