AFTES - Tunnel Allemagne Danemark

A tunnel under the Baltic Sea has begun between Germany and Denmark

25 February 2021 Off By Marie-Christine MICHEL

A tunnel under the Baltic Sea will link Germany and Denmark. This titanic construction site will make it possible to connect the two countries in less than 10 minutes.

This 18 km long tunnel should connect, in 2029, the German peninsula of Fehmarn to the Danish city of Rodby. It will consist of 89 immersed rings of 72,000 tons placed end to end at a depth of 35 m by huge boats.

It will include 4 road lanes and 2 rail lanes. Only ten minutes of driving will be necessary to cross the sea, against more than one hour today, by ferry.
