AFTES Student Contest
Take part in the 2nd edition of the AFTES Student Contest 2025!
Building on the success of its first edition, the AFTES Student Contest, awarded by the AFTES Student Prize, is back in 2025!
This prize aims to encourage excellence, innovation, and the quality of work carried out in the fields of tunnels, underground structures, or the underground space and is intended for recently graduated students to reward their end-of-studies projects in these fields.

The content is open to students at the Bac+5 level (Master’s degree) or Bac+3 level (Bachelor’s degree, Professional Bachelor’s degrees, etc.), enrolled during the 2023-2024 academic year in a French engineering/architecture school or university, and working on a final-year project or an apprenticeship activity in the field of underground space.

The results were announced during the association’s General Assembly, held on December 11 in Paris.
The winner of the contest, Joëlle Saliba, was awarded for her work on the study of settlements induced by tunnel excavation using a tunnel boring machine (TBM). There were also two finalists, Alice Bergerie and David Simoes da Silva, who presented innovative projects: one on the conversion of underground quarries into housing, in the case of Gironde, and the other on the design of fiber-reinforced concrete segments.
