Closure of the Talant tunnel to traffic

The Direction Interdépartementale des Routes Centre EST (DIR-CE) – District of Mâcon informs that it will proceed to maintenance and cleaning works of the Tunnel of TALANT and of the Covered Tunnel of DAIX. These works, for a duration of 8 nights, will take place from 21h00 to 6h00, between April 04 and 08 and between April 11 and 15, 2022.

This work will require the closure of the RN 274 in both directions of traffic between the interchanges n° 37 of AHUY and n° 34 of PLOMBIÈRES-LÈS-DIJON, and the implementation of detour by the inner boulevards.

The maintenance works

The work consists of preventive maintenance of the tunnel equipment and conventional maintenance of the tunnel“, says Mr. Jérôme MUIN, Head of Maintenance Monitoring at the DIR-CE.

The maintenance operations take place twice a year and are carried out within the framework of public maintenance contracts that are reissued every 4 years“.

Currently, the companies holding these contracts are ENFRASYS for preventive maintenance and TERIDEAL for washing operations.

Above all, it is a matter of making identical changes, if necessary, to the tunnel equipment. Thus, the frequency of changes is guided by the maintenance levels imposed by the suppliers and by the constraints required by the prime contractor. Ultimately, the objective is to obtain optimal operation of the equipment.

The interventions on the Talant tunnel will be the following:

A closure used for other interventions

Taking advantage of the traffic closure, a programmed action will be implemented: the renewal of the Daix cut-and-cover inverters; this is the last phase of this operation. “Between 2021 and 2022, all the inverters will have been renewed,” explains Jérôme MUIN.

This is an opportunity for the SDIS 21 and the police to visit the tunnel as part of their internal training.

The Talant tunnel

The Talant tunnel is located in Dijon and is part of the extension of the LINO (Liaison Nord de l’agglomération Dijonnaise).

The structure is a twin-tube urban road tunnel, about 612 meters long for the North tube and 586 meters for the South tube, with two traffic lanes in each tube.

The excavated section is 91 to 95 m². Three branches ensure the inter-tube connection between the two tunnels, which were excavated using explosives (see Photo).

After its construction, the owner DREAL handed over the operation of the tunnel to the DIR Centre Est, which is, in particular, in charge of the maintenance works.
