FUNCTIONAL DIAGRAMS FOR TUNNEL BORING MACHINES
These last years, WG4 produced functional diagrams of the different types of tunnel boring machine to help understand how they work and establish a shared vocabulary.
The TBM represented are:
• Slurry Shield,
• EPB Shield,
• Multimode Shield,
• Single shield TBM,
• Hard Rock TBM,
• Double Shield TBM,
• TBM with backhoe.
These diagrams are based on the “Review of developments in TBMs and their capabilities over the period 2000 – 2019”.
